Different location for save files and screenshotsBy default, the game puts the save files and screenshots into your documents folder. If you would prefer them to be kept in a different location, you can change this. Here is how:Go to the location of the actual game files (where the executable is). A common location is C:Program Files (x86)Steamsteamappscommoncrusader kings ii. Here, manually create a plain text file named userdir.txt. In this text file, put the path of where you would like the game to put save files and screenshots, e.g.
(You can delete the folder in My Documents and restart the game, it will create its files in the new location.)IMPORTANT: Before you do this, backup your save games, screenshots, etc, so that nothing is lost!. The settings distributed with and created by the game does not seem to allow that.
(Edit: Seems I was wrong.

I just re-installed Crusader Kings 2 last week when the Old Gods DLC came out. The game sucks you in, ad kills waaayyy too many hours. I have been playing as one of the Norse men, and have been raping and pillaging like a good viking should be doing and have also united the kingdom of Norway under my banner. I also control a portion of Denmark, and since the previous ruler who owned the majority of this land just passed away and his sons did not inherit his fathers powerful allies, it is time to invade.
One problem, my councilor has not been able to forge a cassus belli, and it is still in the first decade of the game so there are not that many random title claimants to lure into my court. Ohh well I guess Venice looks ripe for another sacking for now:PAnd speaking of a throne of swords, since it is mentioned in the post above mine, someone has made a Game of Thrones mod for this game, I have not checked it out yet, but I saw it and it did pique my curiosity. I also strive to have the entire map look like the image above of the Nomans, except all Norse. I just re-installed Crusader Kings 2 last week when the Old Gods DLC came out.

Centuries of marrying your heirs off to Holy Roman and Byzantine Princesses can have a tendency to muddy the gene-pool a bit.On the bright side though, it did eventually give me the claim on the Byzantine Empire I needed to be able to restore Pax Romana. You'd better believe that the Greek throne was occupied by close cousins of my dynasty long before I finally decided to bring the western branch of the family in for the kill to relieve them of it.I've been meaning to give the GoT mod a try for a while.
Now that I've more or less finished this game, I'll probably give it a shot.Honestly though, I'm really just hoping that Paradox will create an app to port Crusader Kings 2 saved games into Europa Universalis IV. I would love to be able to march my neo-imperial legions through the heart of India, Imperial China, and Mesoamerica. We're honestly more Greek and German than Norman at this point. The latest patch makes it a tad hard for me to intermarry as a pagan though, members of different religions flat out refuse your marriage proposals (including other pagan sects), besides my kids are still too young to start marrying off. I still need to see how the Norse power struggles unfold to determine where I plant my precious dynastic seed stock. As of now I am just focusing on taking genius concubines, using them as breeders, and then dumping them and passing them on to members of my court to breed with My path to dominance starts with good genetics and a good solid breeding program (this makes for a slow start). Not being able to marry outside of my religion makes things a tad more interesting long term. I may have to deliberately allow some of my dynasty to convert at some point come to think of it just to acquire those far flung titles - but ultimately I want Norse paganism to rule and subjugate the world muah-hahahaha.Current plan is total subjugation of all the Norsemen - Norway (all mine), next is Denmark (I have the three strong counties of the main peninsula there as part of my demense - and I moved my capital there), and then Sweden (I do have 2 independent counties there already that decided that they liked my offer to become vassals). British mainland next (two strong Norse families there - the sons of Ragnar Lodbrock.), then I think I will only need about half of Finland (not Norse culture or religion) to be able to establish the Empire of Scandinavia. Ireland (also not Norse) will round out the collection for me to attain total dominance of all the north seas. From there we will see where the winds blow.
I will need to reform Paganism very quickly to establish this though until then I am stuck under gavelkind which could really set my plans back with an untimely death if I am not careful. Fortunately my starting character was 16 years old on day 1, so plenty of time for him to establish a solid legacy and foundation (hopefully).
I love the historical accuracy of many of the starting characters - I had been watching The Vikings on the History Channel, and loved to see the main character from there referenced here in game as well - was not aware he was actually based on a real person for the series.
